I would like to welcome you to our school by focusing
on just three key elements of Henry Hill School.
All children need to know that they can take risks, show weaknesses and
make their own friends without the fear of ridicule or negative peer
pressure. If they are happy, secure and have friends, children will
learn.
It is with learning that leads to academic success that gives our
children the confidence to build on their strengths. In many areas we
have been innovative with a separate performing arts centre, specialist
sports teachers for a sports centre, whanau classrooms, digital classrooms
and international students.
We were the first school in New Zealand to embrace Dr. Diane Chambers,
Melbourne University teaching technique of problem based learning using
computers, succeeding in winning New Zealand's top website challenge.
Now a quarter of our classrooms are purpose built computer classrooms.
There is an emphasis on fun at our school. Our students are happy,
relaxed and successful. They are also young children (5 to 11 years)
and they need to enjoy this part of their lives. They need to
experiment, make mistakes and be adventurous. We give them the chance
to just enjoy growing up.
I came to this school 18 years ago and I'm still excited about what we
have achieved, are achieving and will achieve.
Thanks for visiting our website.
