Henry Hill School was built originally to cater for
young families and it is very much the same now.
Our parents are
generally in their 20's or 30's. Their income level ranges
from low to upper middle.
We are a very mixed race school. About 71/21% Maori over
European children split. We also have 7% Pacific Island
children.
Over the last few years, house prices in our area have increased
markedly. This has seen an increase in permanent residence and
a more stable permanent community. However we still have a
high percentage of transient parents and families.
We have started after school care at Henry Hill School because of
the high employment in our area.
Our school role is growing and is at the 300 level. We
cater for 5 year olds through to 11 year olds. The school's
curriculum reflects our children, ranging from ICT to the Arts,
Sports to an Academic emphasis. We are not looking to increase
our size as we do not want to get so big that we can't cater for the
range of children we have at this school, and we want to continue to
have low classroom numbers.
Henry Hill School class numbers are nearer to 20 than 30.
