The Drama Dance Academy has been launched this year.  The purpose is to extend the very noticeable talents of our children and give them every chance to shine.

We aim to perform for the school and as opportunities arise, in the wider community.

The students went through a selection process where the teachers recommended those who showed interest, were well behaved and had talent in the performance area.

 

 

Henry Hill School consistently has a large number of students who achieve in their selected sporting field. Inclusion in an age group training squad provides these youngsters with considerable support and opportunities.

It is the aim of the Sports Academy to support these students not only in their chosen sporting field, but also in their academic and personal development.  It is hoped through this programme students will be able to succeed in all aspects.  Success in one level will not be at the expense of other areas.  It is the key objective that young athletes can achieve their full success living here in Napier.

The intent of this programme is to provide students with:

• Support in maintaining academic performance while meeting sporting demands.
• General training principles and the application of these to their particular sport.
• Access to school facilities and expertise to support the successful completion of training programmes.
• An opportunity to meet and discuss with a wide range of guest speakers and role models.
• An opportunity to develop personal skills such as goal setting and public speaking.

The programme will draw on a wide range of guest speakers. While using the many skills of Henry Hill School staff members, this programme will also draw on expertise from the wider community.

Within the programme it will be possible for students to follow an individual programme, based on their particular needs and developed through consultation meetings with the school's sports specialist.  These programmes should reflect the personal goals of each student for the year.
